Today we have three locations in Normal, Champaign, and Springfield, and our community stretches from I-80 south to Effingham.
The heart of our business is band & orchestra; The Music Shoppe works with over 400 schools across Illinois. We also carry guitars, drums, sound equipment, pianos, print music, and more. Additionally, we have the area's largest repair department and lesson studios. We truly are a one-stop shoppe for any musician.

Orchestral String Luthier
The Music Shoppe, a NAMM Top 100 dealer and long-standing member of NASMD, is seeking an experienced orchestral string luthier for the Normal, Illinois location. Serving downstate Illinois since 1961, The Music Shoppe has a history of excellent repair service and support for orchestral string musicians.
The home of Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington-Normal is a vibrant source of repair business with 2 outstanding Schools of Music, numerous professional players and teachers, and orchestral programs in all public and some private schools. The community is diverse and arts supportive; large enough to offer many amenities, and about 2 hours from Chicago or St. Louis for broader offerings in the arts.

E-Commerce Specialist
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The eCommerce Specialist will be responsible for maintaining our online stores on a variety of platforms. This will include:
- Adding product listings to www.TheMusicShoppe.com as well as strategic 3rd party platforms such as Ebay, Reverb, Facebook, and more.
- Establishing and maintaining landing pages
- Creating and implementing website design and functionality changes using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
- Processing and fulfilling online orders
- Finding opportunities for improvements to our website and online presence
- Respond to customer inquiries related to online sales
- Other related projects will be assigned based on skill set.
- Required: H.S. Diploma
- Required: Proof of experience (completed coursework, internships, certifications, or degrees) with HTML, CSS, and/or Javascript languages. Ideal candidates should submit a portfolio of at least three (3) projects that accurately reflects the range of their abilities and be prepared to discuss the techniques used and decisions made to create each example in order to best demonstrate their expertise.
- Required: Instrumental music background. At least 50% of this position will be dedicated to managing product pages. As a result, familiarity with a broad range of musical instruments and accessories will help candidates stand out.
- Preferred: Previous employment related to website/ecommerce operations & management.
- Preferred: Previous experience working in music retail.
- Preferred: Previous experience using AIM Point of Sale software.

We are currently searching for teachers for the following instruments in our Champaign lesson studios:
- Low Brass (Trombone & Euphonium)
- Guitar
- Flute
Studio teachers are required to pass a background check and maintain a weekly student schedule with a high degree of professionality. Teachers are hired as independent contractors, and as a result have the freedom to design their own lesson program, set their own rates, and maintain their own schedule.
