Kevin Kierspe

Trumpet Instructor | Champaign, IL

Kevin Kierspe is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Trumpet Performance at UIUC. Prior to moving to Illinois, he performed with the B.B. King Blues Band aboard Holland America cruise ships and played in numerous show and party bands with various cruise lines.

Kevin believes that, in today’s musical landscape, every musician should strive to be well-rounded and knowledgeable in multiple styles (Classical, Jazz, Latin, etc.). He emphasizes that every fundamental should be approached as musically as possible, with a focus on good sound and phrasing.

He is excited to begin working at The Music Shoppe and looks forward to helping musicians of all levels and experience grow and develop!
 


Lea Humphreys

French Horn Instructor | Champaign, IL

Lea Humphreys, french horn lesson teacher at The Music Shoppe of Champaign, Illinois

Lea Humphreys is current pursuing her doctorate in Horn Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she is studying with Bernhard Scully. A native of Maryland, she received her bachelor’s in Horn Performance at the University of Maryland, where her primary teachers were Gregory Miller and Phil Munds. She went on to receive her masters in Horn Performance from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Adam Unsworth and Bryan Kennedy.

 

Lea has had numerous experiences performing experience from participating in multiple ensembles at each school she attended. Groups include the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, University of Michigan Symphony Band, University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and the University of Illinois Graduate Brass Quintet. Along with performing, Lea has been teaching for the last 7 years including private lessons, horn supplemental class, and brass quintet coaching.

Stacey Peterik

Low Brass Instructor | Champaign, IL

Stacey Peterik, trombone, euphonium, and tuba lesson teacher at The Music Shoppe of Champaign, Illinois

Stacey Peterik is currently the 5th grade band director in Urbana School District #116. She teaches 5th grade band at all six elementary schools, assists with 6th grade band students at Urbana Middle School, teaches the Urbana Middle School and Urbana High School Jazz Bands, and is the director of the Urbana High School Tiger Marching Band. Stacey is a 2008 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she holds degrees in music education and psychology. During her time at the University of Illinois, Stacey participated in numerous music ensembles on various instruments. In 2016, Stacey received her Master’s degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music. Originally from Plainfield, Illinois, Stacey is a trombone player, but has also played baritone and tuba (and many other instruments) in many ensembles, including, but not limited to concert bands, jazz bands, pep bands, brass quintets, and other ensembles.

Logan Clark

Low Brass Instructor | Champaign, IL

Logan Clark is a versatile musician and educator who performs extensively as an orchestral, chamber, and solo artist. He is a faculty member at Millikin University, where he serves as the Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium, as well as the Principal Tuba for the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. Logan has also performed with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, the Urbana Pops Orchestra, and Sinfonia da Camera.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky, a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Tennessee, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Illinois. His primary teachers include Dr. Skip Gray, Dr. Alex Lapins, and Scott Tegge.
