Just like B&J, we are a family-owned business with an emphasis on the school market. We began in 1961 in Bloomington, and now have 3 locations – Normal, Champaign, and Springfield. Although we don’t have a location in Danville, we’re familiar with the area, having served it since the mid-1980s. Today, we are central Illinois’ oldest and largest music retailer, offering a full line of the industry's top brands and a full service department to assist you with whatever needs you may have.

When will The Music Shoppe start handling my rental account?

Starting June 1st, 2024, we will take over coverage of your rental account.

Will there be any changes in my rental contract terms?

No. Your existing contract with B&J Music will be honored by The Music Shoppe. The only adjustment is that rental payments will now be directed to The Music Shoppe instead of B&J Music, ensuring continuity and convenience for you.

What about equity that I’ve accrued?

All equity accrued through B&J Music will remain with The Music Shoppe.

Can I pay off my contract early?

Yes.  You have the option to settle your contract early and benefit from the 20% early payment discount offered by B&J Music. For inquiries regarding the payoff amount for your account, simply contact The Music Shoppe.

What if I want to return my instrument?

If you need to return your instrument, you can visit any of our store locations or arrange for one of our Educational Sales Representatives to collect it from your student’s school. Please contact us to arrange the pick up of your return.

Can I bring a rental payment to your store?

Absolutely!  You're welcome to make a payment in person at any of our stores. Alternatively, if mailing your payment or providing payment over the phone is more convenient for you, we're happy to accommodate that as well. Please contact us to discuss the specifics of your rental payment.

Does my Maintenance and Repair Coverage still apply?

Your maintenance coverage provided by B&J Music will be honored by The Music Shoppe as long as your account is current and in good standing. All future repairs will be handled by The Music Shoppe.

What if my instrument needs to be repaired?

Contact The Music Shoppe and we’ll coordinate the pickup of the instrument from your student’s school. Once received, we’ll handle the repairs and return the instrument to your student's school. Loaner instruments are readily available and always free of charge.

Can I upgrade my instrument?

Yes. At The Music Shoppe, we offer a wide selection of top name brands and maintain an extensive inventory of intermediate and professional model instruments. Contact us to explore how you can utilize your equity to upgrade your student's instrument.

Can I switch instruments?

Yes. Your student can choose to switch instruments with the approval of their band director. The accrued equity can be applied to facilitate the switch. Feel free to reach out to us for further information and guidance.

Will The Music Shoppe travel to our school like B&J Music does?

Yes. We operate with a team of 8 Educational Sales Representatives (ESRs) who visit over 400 schools every week. We will visit your student’s school for order pickups and instrument drop-offs.
